Autodesk Forma Site Design: Analyzing Site Performance Before You Model
Date & Time: September 4, 2026 10:30 am
In this session we will set up a site from scratch and send it to Revit as native geometry, including a TopoSolid ground surface and parametric walls and roofs.
Friday, September 4 | 10:30 AM PT | Live online
On most projects, site capacity and building massing are set early as assumptions and confirmed late — after the model is built in Revit or Rhino, when changing them is expensive. Autodesk Forma Site Design (formerly Spacemaker) reverses that order. Forma analyzes solar access, wind, microclimate, noise, and embodied carbon while the design is still a massing study, so the results arrive early enough to act on.
Forma runs in the browser and is included with the AEC Collection, so there is nothing to install.
In this session we will build a site from an empty project and carry a proposal through to Revit:
- Automated context retrieval: Forma pulls terrain, road networks, and existing 3D buildings from public geospatial data.
- Site limits and fixed elements: Boundary lines, access roads, and tree lines can be drawn once and stay consistent across every proposal.
- Three massing studies from one base site: We will generate 3 different proposals using the building modeling tools.
- Real-time analysis: Sunlight analysis, Wind Analysis, Microclimate and noise simulations will be shown.
- Side-by-side comparison. Compare analysis results for each proposal using split viewports.
- Send to Revit. The selected proposal will generate a TopoSolid ground surface, context buildings, and parametric wall and roof elements as native Revit geometry. (This feature is currently in beta.)
This session is intended for architects, urban planners, civil engineers, and real estate developers who are involved in early stages of site design.
