Command: APPEND

append command ribbon
Overview
  • APPEND is named for this tools ability to add a note before or after existing text.
  • To run: you may type APPEND as a command, or find the button highlighted in yellow above.
  • The APPEND command prompts users to write the note, to determine if the note is placed before or after existing text, and finally to select the text object to append to.  You can append the characters to multiple text objects consecutively without running through the entire battery.
Example

There are many driveways in the drawing, and the centerline of each driveway has a line drawn for it.  Beside this line is a label that indicates the width of the driveway.  The client sends redlines of the plotted drawing back, suggesting they want the prefix “CL” before every single width label.

With This Tool
  • The drafter types the note to append ONLY once, when prompted.
  • Then the drafter can append that note to as many text objects as they wish.
